 Danger lurks beneath your feet...

So there she was, searching again, after briefly meeting others, then leaving them to their buisness. And she had come upon a rather dangerous-looking mine shaft, which had given her a rather worrying thought. What if someone's in there? What if they can't get out? What if they are to weak to cry for help? What if. There was never anything she knew that worried her, it was only what she suspected. And she suspected danger.

The darkness blinded her, and she found herself feeling for a wall, so that she would not injure herself. Realising she was being selfish because there could be an injured canine in the middle of the passage, Meg whimpered quietly, before returning to the central path of the tunnel.

There were several rocks in her way and sh hit herself once or twice, but did not seem to mind, because she was thinking of others, as always.

Meg wandered down deep undergound, treading carefully but taking more of an interest in searching for others, as she always seemed to do. Hazel pools of vision soon adjusted to the dim light, and she was searching again...

"I don't know what everybody's so afraid of. This place isn't scary at all."

His last word echoed across the walls of the cavern, bouncing back like a boomerang. The dalmation gave a startled leap, crouching low as he prepared to attack. "He-hello?"

Lo, lo, lo...

He breathed a sigh of relief, laughing nervously as he drew himself to his full height. It was just an echo. Of course he wasn't scared - Picasso de Granza was never scared. With a smug little smile he trotted off around the corner, only to bump straight into something, or rather, someone. With a squeak of fear he stumbled backwards and would have walked straight onto a mine if he hadn't stopped himself in time. Shaking himself out of it, he peered through the darkness, chocolate brown eyes studying the vague shape of the dog. "S-sorry," he stammered nervously, struggling to his feet. "Are you alright?"

Meg was searching, her vision only slightly increased by the adjustments of her eyes. She-dog could just about see in front of her, but was completely shocked when an unexpected Creature seemingly threw itself at her, and she reacted to this by a rather loud squeak of surprise. She jumped backwards, falling rather disgracefully into the dirt.

She shook her head, tossing any thoughts about injuries from her mind. Are you alright came the dogs' unfamiliar voice through the darkness. "I'm fine." She said, too worried about the other canine to realise she had cut her hind leg and was bleeding, "But what about you? You had a nasty fall, are you alright? Do you need help?" As always, her questions were thick with worry, and fast with anxiety. They were, indeed, difficult to answer.

Meg peered through the darkness towards him, the pain in her leg unnoticed, hazel pools of vision gently caressing his misty outline.

"Who, me? Yes, yes, I'm fine. Er... sorry about that." He grinned sheepishly, striding over to help her up. As he drew closer to her, it suddenly struck him how beautiful she really was. He had not been able to see properly through the mist, but now he was awestruck. But his expression of admiration quickly melted into pity as his gaze fell upon her bleeding leg. "Ouch, that looks painful. Here, let me help you." With a strange tenderness he had never felt before, Caz moved forwards to inspect her leg. He was no vet, but even he knew that a wound that bad had to be painful.

Meg saw his more clearly as he drew nearer, his white form the was almost glowing, dotted with many ebonite spots that made him most hansome. She could not help but be overwhelmed by his appearance, but quickly reagined control, as the pain of her leg stung her, making her squirm in pain.

she looked at him with her hazel eyes, emotion hiding in their depths. But which emotion?

Caz studied the wound as best as he could, his spotted brow creased in a thoughtful frown. "It looks deep," he murmered quietly, more to himself than Meg. "You should rest, um..." Glancing up at her, he realised that she had not told him her name. His muzzle spread into an apologetic grin as his voice trailed off. "You haven't told me your name, you know," he pointed out, his voice tender and... was that affection in his eyes? Caring? Either way, they never left those of the collie. He was enchanted by her grace, her beauty. He almost felt as though if he stopped looking at her for one moment, she might disappear in a puff of smoke, never to be seen again. And he didn't know what he'd do without her, this stranger who's very name was a mystery...

"I apologize," She said softly, her gaze gentle, almost caressing as he looked over her. Finally she had found someone who did not insult her, who talked to her like they would talk to someone else, who wasn't distracted by someone more beautiful, more normal, more similar to themselves. "I'm Meg."

Those few moments seemed to last forever, but they were a matter of seconds, but ones she would never forget. She would never forget him, but she could not rest. "I cannot." She said, slowly, forcing the words to seem like she was not in pain. "I'm fine " Meg winced as she realised she was being selfish again, "Besides, someone could be down here, injured..." She trailed off, tearing her gaze from him and looking down at the ground.

Tears welled up in her eyes as she turned from him, and she was thankful that the darkness would not allow him to see them. "Goodbye, Sir..." She said sorrowfully, limping away slowly, trying in vain to concentrate on something other than his deep, deep eyes...

Her uneven footfalls echoed sharply around the tunnel, following her agonizingly, making the journey twice as difficult as she made her way along the rocky surface of the ground.

She grew dizzy, swaying as she walked, her eyes blurry. She shook her skull, trying too rid herself of the headache that was hastily forming, ruining her concentration...

Then she fell...

Her ribs hit the ground with a loud crack, though none of them broke, thankfully. Meg was out cold, having lost more blood than she had expected. Her eyelids were closed, but they were frozen with confusion, what was happening, what was happening...

But it was not just the blood loss that had affected her consciousness, t'was also her starvation, plus the pure exhaustion that had caused her to faint.

Dirt clouded up around her, as if it were protecting, or guarding her from danger. But it was just dirt, and it was gone before anything could have happened. It fell across her like a drape, tiny pieces of mud gently landing on her soft, fine fur.
